    I wrote my first Safari extension today. I think it’s pretty nifty. As the name suggests, it lets you download YouTube videos.

    Just click the convenient “Download Video” button…

    And then download the video in any of the formats the script finds!

    Nice and easy. And you can get it here.

    Update: The update mechanism was broken in early releases. It has been fixed in version 1.0.3. If you have a version earlier than that, you’ll have to update manually. Sorry about that!

    Update 2: YouTube code changes broke the extension for people who use the Flash player to watch video. It has been fixed in version 1.1.3.

    Update 3: I believe this doesn’t work anymore with the newest versions of Safari and YouTube. I am using the excellent YouTube5 extension. It, in addition to cutting YouTube’s reliance on Flash, allows you to download any video. So if you’re looking for a replacement, I suggest you try that!
